It has been demonstrated that by increasing the environmental stresses applied to a product with a given level of initial robustness in a controlled manner, this may affect the overall life and functioning of the product itself. Accelerated tests help on giving a prospective of this external factors' decisiveness on the product reliability. Accelerated test are mainly diversified in two categories: HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Test) and HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screen).
These tests are done to identify the chemical composition of materials and chemical contamination. They can be executed for different scopes, mainly to assure the absence of dangerous or simply unwanted components, to establish the fire resistance of an item from its material components, to determine the environmental impact of an item in use in a specific area.
These tests evaluate the response of products and equipment to constant environmental and mechanical stresses, like: heat, cold, humidity, wind and weather. The purpose in this scenario is to ensure the products are able to withstand any condition and capable of working perfectly.
